How to Look Better – A Face Grooming Guide for Gentlemen

You, as a man, want to look great at all times without too much of an effort. No matter if you are already a refined gentleman, or on the long trip to becoming one (none of us truly are), having a nice, well groomed face, and a beard trimmed to perfection is always something that we strive towards.

Of course, it’s impossible to look great without a good, planned out grooming routine. Depending on your lifestyle and preferences different things will suit you. You might enjoy a smoothly shaved face, while Joe sitting next to you might be a fan of the 5 o’clock shade. Because of this, there is no ‘one suits all’ grooming routine. It takes time. And it takes trial and fails until you find yours. It took me three years to find one that I can maintain on a daily basis!

If you still haven’t made up your mind if you want to shave your arms and legs, it’s time that you put an end to it. Yes, it might end up not being your thing, but what’s the scariest thing that can happen? Going around hairless for the next two weeks?

Again, as I mentioned above, your grooming routine, depends solely on you, the lifestyle you have and how much time you are willing to put in. Because of that, the only thing that I can do is give you mine, and you adjusting it to your suiting.

I try to stick as much as possible to this schedule because I know myself, and only one day is enough for me to fall off the wagon.
Now, that you have the basic understanding on how a successful grooming schedule looks like, let’s get more in-depth on the technical part.

The beginning of your day is important in order to determine how it’s going to go. Believe it or not, leaving your home with a fresh, clean face is very important for a man to feel good. In the morning you can always go for a face wash, shave and a bit of an AM crème.

How to pluck your eyebrows.

“The eyebrows are the only thing on a man’s face that can completely change the look of it…”Tom Ford

Do I need to say more?
It’s true that well-maintained eyebrows change the overall feel of a man’s face. The easiest way to keep your eyebrows in a good shape is to pay a visit to a cosmetician. Let them define the shape of your eyebrows for you. That way the only thing that you need to do is maintenance.

How to Groom Eyebrows for Men
– A man should always pluck his eyebrows on the bottom side and not the upper. The reason being that by plucking only at the bottom you get a more natural and masculine result.

– The eyebrow should begin at a third of your nose. That way you won’t end up looking like a moron. Make sure to trim the hairs if they are too long.

– The last thing that you want to end up is the Martin Scorsese look…

It's important to keep you beard in shape!
A beard sharper than a razor is on the wish list of every modern gent. Whatever the rumours might be, the beard fashion isn’t going anywhere and you should take a bit of time to shape your beard (if that’s your thing of course).

Let’s take a look at Gentleman Zone’s top picks for trimming your beard. And remember: there is a thin line between sporting a five o’clock shade and looking scruffy.

Having a good trimmer.
A great beard is as great as your trimmer is. Investing in a good trimmer is mandatory if you want to skip yourself the headaches you are going to get if you cheap out and opt for the inexpensive variant.

Wash your beard regularly.
If you are just starting to grow your beard it’s very important that you wash it regularly. Trapped skin cells and food are just going to make the process of growing a beard a lot more, well, itchy. Wash and scrub your beard at least three to four times a week to ensure a clean face.

Invest in a beard oil.
Just like styling your hair, a beard needs its own product to help it stay in place. A good beard oil will help with shaping and nourishing the hair on your beard, making it softer and easier to control.

Trim regularly.
A regular trim of your beard will help with taming it and making the hair stick to a shape. Trim the beard once to twice a week to maintain a constant classy look.

Clean Shaved
If you are the type of gent who prefers a clean shaven face, then definitely shave every morning after the douche. It’s genuinely the best practice as if you leave it, the second day you will look scruffy.

Make sure you trim your nose hairs.

A gentleman never lets anything to stick out of his nose. In order to avoid embarrassment, you should trim your nose hairs regularly, as they tend to grow a bit longer.

Here, at Gentleman Zone, we recommend you do it twice a week, at convenient for you days, after a steaming shower. The steamy surroundings will soften the hairs which will make the trimming much easier. No need to torture yourself anymore.

Teeth whitening is important.

Giving your pearly whites a bit of refreshment once or twice a week is always a good idea. If you sport a healthy set of teeth, that have the perfect pigment of white, you might just be able to get away with brushing twice a day, followed by flossing, just to make sure the ivories are clean enough.
