How to take Care of Your Nails

For most men getting a manicure is not a priority.

And that’s understandable. In our society, it’s not acceptable to go to a saloon with your wife and both together enjoy a mani-pedi.

If you are a man that earns his money trough hard work and uses his hands a lot during the day, we get it that it’s quite hard maintaining nice and soft hands.
But for all other guys that just have their 9 to 5 office job, it’s important to have your hands on point 24/7!

Why?

Well, what’s the first thing you do when you meet someone? You give them a nice, firm handshake, and if your nails are all dirty and crooked because you eat them whole day long, then guess what – you’re not making a great first impression!

So, to save your ass from ruining your potential next date, or a big business deal, we give you the easy guide for taking care of your nails, like a MAN.

Clipping Your Nails

This is by far the fastest and easiest thing you can do. Ever since you were a kid you were told to clip your nails at least once a week (however, I bet as a kid you did it once a month – at least I did).
So, why when this is such a basic and easy thing to do most man just skip trough it?

It’s baffling how many men just refuse to clip their nails. That’s for that gentleman.

In order to do it best, go and take a hot shower. While you are at it get your nail clippers and clip those nails. Try to keep the curvature of the nail and not over-clip them, or you are just gonna be left there with half a nail.
The hot steamy shower will soften the nails and it will be way easier to keep the shape while clipping.

Push Those Cuticles

So, you are done with correcting the length of your nails, what you do while you are still fresh out of the shower is to push your cuticles.

The cuticle is the piece of skin that sits on the to of your nail. Most people will have it all messed up because usually, we don’t give it much of attention.
Grab some of your wife’s tools and push those cuticles into place. If you don’t have access to such tools just do it with your thumb. It will do the job just fine.

Just don’t give them too much of a push, you want to put them into place, not remove them completely.

File those Nails

Now that you have done half the work it’s time to give your nails a more natural shape. This is the step where the overly manly men will use sand paper instead of a nail file. [Please don’t, that’s a joke]

Filing the nails it’s helpful when they are growing back. You ensure that you won’t have any ingrown nails. Give them a nice natural shape.

Buffing

No, not that type of buffing. For this type of buffing, you should get yourself a nail buffing kit that will make your nails look better. It’s a great thing to do especially if your nails don’t have that natural healthy look.
A good nail buffing file is no more than $15 and you can get them at any drugstore.

Final Words

So, gentleman, use this easy 4 step guide to have great and healthy looking nails. Despite looking like a long procedure it will take no more than 5 minutes a week, assuming if you do it once.

  1. I don’t like the clipper… for me it just seems like an unprecise work… I prefer using manicure scissors. It just works so much better, especially on the thumb because you can stop your nails to grow in even better.
