How To Remember Names | Two Simple Tricks

You’ve just met someone, they tell you their name and boom you forget it and you start asking yourself did just Will Smith flashed you the light from Men in Black. So you just start praying that you never have the need to say the name ever again.

Yes I know it sucks, but no matter what you do nothing helps. For me, if I don’t see a given person at least two days in a row there is absolutely no way I’m going to remember that person’s name. Even worse is that the diverse world we live in just makes you meet people from different nationalities and it’s absolute hell when you have to remember a long, complicated name.

This was the reason I decided to give you two tricks that help me remember people’s names.

The first trick: Connect people’s names to something

This one is pretty easy. Just connect that given person’s name to something you do together at that point of time or an object.
Ex: You’re at a restaurant and you have a lunch meeting with Sam. You meet for the first time, and he tells you his name. For 5 minutes you’re ok, but after that you just forget his name. So something I do is connect his name with something. Let’s say Sam orders salmon. Bum in my mind he is San the salmon, yes it’s funny sometimes I giggle too, but it works wonders.

The second trick is: Repeat their name

This one is pretty much the most famous method, and for a reason. It simply works! When they say “Hi, my name is John.” you say “Hello John, my name is…” simple as that.

That’s it guys, I believe you will never forget another name in your life guys!

See you on the next one…
