Having something fun to do while you’re out with your friends and acquaintances, is a crucial part in socializing in any situation. Bringing something with you like a deck of cards or a chess board is always a welcome sight when the mood dies down, after an hour or two.
So in this article of Gentleman Zone, we will be concentrating on one of the most important parts of any party, and that, dear readers is- ENTERTAINMENT.
Before we go in further detail, we should discuss the definition of the word entertainment, which is described thusly in the Oxford Dictionary: the action of providing or being provided with amusement or enjoyment.
So, how do you provide it, you might ask? Well, you can start interesting conversations that include every single person in the company, which is the most important part.
Take note- NEVER discuss religion or political views. It is certainly going to start an argument, which in term will spawn a quarrel.
The topics are potentially endless, however I will give you a short list for mixed companies (men and women).
What is the bravest thing you’ve ever done? What did you do on your first date? What is the best prank you’ve ever pulled? How much money will make you happy, if it will make you happy at all? How would you spend it? If you were given a ticket to a place in the world of you choosing, would you take it, pack your things and go? Is it possible for men and women to just friends? Or do romantic feelings always get in the way? Do you have friends form a different culture or country than you? Does it make a difference in the communication between you and them? How different- in a good or bad way?
Now that we’ve listed the banter, we’re going to move on to some games, the nature of which is of your choice. What type of games can you play with the people you’re with? Well there are a lot of things you can actually do, you just haven’t thought about it.
Firstly there are card games, which are better played indoors in someone’s flat or house.
Poker is always a safe bet. It can be played by two to nine people and if there is no money betting is fun to do. Keep in mind though, by including money things can get complicated between the people losing them and the people winning them. That goes the same with Black Jack.
Contact Bridge or simply bridge, is a trick- taking game using a standard 52- card deck. It is played by four players in two competing partnerships. With the partners sitting opposite each to each other around the table. The game consists of several deals each progressing through four phases: dealing the cards, the auction or more commonly referred to as the bidding, playing the cards, and scoring the results.
Chess is a two- player board game played on a chessboard, a checkered game board with 64 squares arranged in an eight- by- eight grid. Each player begins the game with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. Each of the six piece types moves differently. The most powerful piece is the queen and the least powerful piece is the pawn. The objective is to ‘checkmate’ the opponent’s king by placing it under an inescapable threat of capture. To this end, a player’s pieces are used to attack and capture the opponent’s pieces, while supporting his own.
Now time for the games you can play in a pub or a gaming area.
Pool, also more formally known as billiards, played on a pool table having six receptacles called pockets along the rails, into which balls are deposited as the main goal of play. Popular versions include eight- ball and nine- ball. An obsolete term for pool is six- pocket.
Darts is a form of throwing game in which small missiles are thrown at a circular target, also known as (dartboard) fixed to a wall.
Table football to begin the game, the ball is served through a hole at the side of the table, or simply placed by hand at the feet of the figure in the center of the table. The initial serving side is decided by coin toss. Players then attempt to use the figures mounted on rotating bars to kick the ball into the opposing goal.
Well those were some brief examples of things to do with your friends.
