Beginners Guide to Building Muscles

People go to the gym usually with the same goal in mind, and that is to build muscle. Entering a gym for the first time and seeing all those buffed and ripped guys can be a little frightening. Especially if you are a novice when it comes to lifting weights. But even those guys had to start somewhere, so whether it is in the safety of your home or in the gym, it is imperative to get a good start and not make beginners mistakes. So if you want to build muscle and become stronger, here are some tips to get you off to a running start.

Pick the right environment

You will not be able to reach your goal, when it comes to muscle building, while training with distance runners. You need a gym that has the right tools for your workouts and you need to surround yourself with people who have similar goals as yours. This will probably increase your interest in strength training and help you get off to a good start with your fitness goals. You can also find a training partner in a place like that, this will encourage you to come to every workout without skipping any, and push yourself to the limit.

Warm up properly

Starting your workout with 225 pounds on the bench bar is a good way to get yourself injured. It is of utmost importance to warm yourself up before starting your workout to avoid getting injured. Get yourself going by doing some jumping jacks, bodyweight squats, push-ups, stretch the muscles you are going to work that day. Then do a set or two with an empty bar. Then slowly progress with adding weights for additional warm up, and only after that you are ready to start lifting heavy.

Be explosive

This doesn’t mean to go running frantically around the gym. Be explosive when doing your compound moves like deadlift, bench press, squat, clean. Lifting and lowering the weight slowly will only teach your muscles to everything slowly, instead you need fast, powerful and explosive muscles. While doing a deadlift simply picture yourself pushing away from the ground with your legs and exploding vertically up with the weights. If you are working on your bench pressing, imagine pushing that bar off your chest with enough explosive power to throw it in the air. But always stay in control of your weights, lifting recklessly might lead to injury.

Add supplements

Supplements might not be required for everyone who goes to the gym, but they can be of great help. Proper nutrition is very important for muscle building and supplements can also boost your performance which will result in additional gains. If you are looking for a strength and performance boost, look into creatine, fish oil and different protein shakes. Professional athletes always take care of what they put into their bodies, which is why they always go for natural fitness supplements which have the best quality.

Rest properly

The time you spend in the gym is very important for building muscle, but it is also important to get the proper rest. Rest days are there so your body can repair and grow, eight to nine hours of quality sleep should do the trick. Also try to eliminate all sources of stress, it can limit your gains in the gym. Many factors come into play when it comes to your gym progress, so try to improve on some of them.

Beginning of anything can be hard, same goes for building muscle. It is not just important to put in the work, you need to do it properly. So follow these tips to get yourself set on a good path to building muscle.
